IDENTITY & STRATEGY

Tidal Tresses

The Tidal Tresses concept project was developed as a boutique coastal hair studio centred on effortless beauty and refined relaxation. The strategy positioned the salon within the premium yet approachable space, targeting clients seeking low-maintenance, lived-in styles rather than high-glam transformations. The goal was to create a brand that feels polished without being intimidating, modern without feeling clinical.

The visual identity reflects softness and movement. A muted palette of warm beige, soft blush, and subdued teal draws inspiration from shoreline tones while maintaining a contemporary edge. Typography combines an elegant serif with a clean, slightly fun-twisted sans-serif to balance femininity and structure. Subtle curvature in the logo mark mirrors the flow of hair and tidal rhythm, reinforcing the brand’s name without relying on literal imagery.

Across all applications, the identity emphasises space, light, and calm. From appointment cards and product packaging to social media templates and in-salon signage, each touchpoint was designed to feel cohesive and elevated. The result is a brand that communicates trust, expertise, and understated confidence.

Overview

This project gave me the opportunity to step into an industry I was less familiar with and approach it through a new creative lens. Beyond developing the core branding, I explored practical applications such as salon collateral, retail product labelling, and digital content direction. It was a valuable exercise in translating brand personality into a tangible client experience.

Strategic Foundation

The strategic foundation focused on positioning Tidal Tresses as a destination for modern, low-maintenance beauty. The target audience includes women seeking natural colour, effortless cuts, and a refined salon experience. Three guiding pillars shaped the identity: softness, expertise, and approachability. These principles informed the restrained colour palette, fluid visual elements, and clean layout systems, ensuring the brand felt both welcoming and professional.

Process & Insights

Results & Scalability

The final outcome is a flexible and scalable identity system that can expand into bridal packages, product lines, educational content, or additional studio locations while maintaining strong brand recognition. This project strengthened my ability to research unfamiliar industries, adapt strategically, and develop branding that feels authentic to its audience. It reinforced the importance of stepping outside comfort zones to grow creatively and strategically.
